The process begins by getting acquainted with the model. This to ensure that Pauline knows what look and characteristics she has to capture during the portraying. After this introduction a photo session will follow in the studio. Pauline always uses more than one of these photos as a guideline for the portrait. The different impressions of the person create a layered painting. The result of that layering is a true portrait of the person and the personality behind that person. The work is carefully created and the process will last weeks to months. The drying of the oil paint and the search for more than similarity simply takes time. During the process the portrayed person has occasions to see the work. The portrayed is also often invited for one or two extra posing session and can also be model painted by Pauline. The approval of the portrait is essential. The portrait will only leave the studio if everybody is satisfied.
